STEP BY STEP PROCESS

Your Path to Parenthood

1

Consultation and Assessment

Begin with a comprehensive evaluation of both partners to assess fertility health, discuss medical histories, and develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs.

2

Ovarian Stimulation

Administer fertility medications to stimulate the ovaries, encouraging the development of multiple mature eggs for retrieval.

3

Egg Retrieval and Sperm Collection

Perform a minimally invasive procedure to collect mature eggs from the ovaries. Simultaneously, a sperm sample from the partner or donor is processed to isolate the healthiest sperm for fertilisation.

4

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

Inject a single healthy sperm directly into each mature egg to facilitate fertilisation, increasing the chances of successful embryo development, especially in cases of male infertility.

5

Embryo Culture and Freezing

Monitor the fertilised eggs as they develop into embryos over several days. Viable embryos are then cryopreserved (frozen) for future transfer, allowing flexibility in timing and preparation for the optimal uterine environment.

6

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

Prepare the uterine lining through hormonal therapy to ensure it is receptive. Thaw the selected embryo(s) and transfer them into the uterus to achieve a successful pregnancy.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

■ What is ICSI-FET?

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is an advanced fertilization technique where a single sperm is injected into an egg to aid fertilization. FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) involves thawing and transferring frozen embryos into the uterus, allowing for flexibility in timing and optimizing pregnancy outcomes.

ICSI-FET is ideal for couples facing male infertility (low sperm count or poor motility), those with previously frozen embryos, or patients undergoing fertility preservation. It also benefits couples requiring donor sperm or eggs.

In traditional IVF, eggs and sperm are mixed in a lab to allow fertilisation naturally. In ICSI, a single sperm is directly injected into the egg, making it more effective for severe male infertility cases.

Success rates vary by age and individual factors but typically range between 40-60% per cycle. FET improves outcomes by transferring embryos into a well-prepared uterine lining.

Embryos are frozen using vitrification, an advanced freezing method that prevents the formation of ice crystals. This technique maintains embryo quality and increases the chances of a successful transfer.

Both ICSI and FET are minimally invasive. Egg retrieval may involve mild discomfort managed with anaesthesia, while FET is a simple, pain-free procedure similar to a Pap smear.

The ICSI process, including ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval, takes about 2-3 weeks. FET can be done in a subsequent cycle, requiring approximately 10-14 days for uterine preparation and transfer.

Yes, your doctor will guide you in deciding the number of embryos to transfer based on your health, age, and goals. Single embryo transfer is often recommended to minimise the risk of multiple pregnancies.

Yes, advancements in freezing techniques (vitrification) ensure that frozen embryos have similar success rates to fresh ones. FET also allows better uterine preparation, improving implantation rates.

Preparation involves following a healthy lifestyle, taking prescribed medications, and undergoing hormonal therapy to prepare the uterus for implantation. Regular consultations and adherence to your doctor’s guidance are essential.
