Your Path to Parenthood
Initial Consultation
Begin with a consultation to review your medical history, assess fertility, and create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.
Ovarian Stimulation
Fertility medications are administered to stimulate your ovaries, promoting the development of multiple mature eggs for retrieval.
Egg Retrieval and Sperm Preparation
Mature eggs are collected through a minor surgical procedure, and a sperm sample (partner or donor) is prepared to ensure that the healthiest sperm are used.
Fertilisation and Embryo Development
The retrieved eggs are fertilised with the prepared sperm in a laboratory. Over several days, the resulting embryos are monitored for growth and quality.
Embryo Transfer
One or more healthy embryos are transferred into the uterus through a simple, painless procedure to initiate implantation.
Pregnancy Test and Follow-Up
Two weeks after the embryo transfer, a blood test determines whether the procedure was successful. Regular follow-ups provide support for early pregnancy care.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
■ What is IVF, and how does it work?
IVF, or In Vitro Fertilization, is a process where eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in a lab. The resulting embryos are then transferred into the uterus to achieve pregnancy. It is a widely used treatment for infertility in both men and women.
■ Who can benefit from IVF?
IVF is suitable for individuals with various fertility challenges, including blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, ovulation disorders, male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, or those using donor eggs/sperm or surrogacy.
■ Is IVF painful?
The IVF process involves minor discomfort, such as during hormone injections or egg retrieval. However, most procedures are minimally invasive and managed with anaesthesia or pain relief, ensuring patient comfort.
■ What are the success rates of IVF?
IVF success rates depend on age, egg quality, sperm quality, and overall health. On average, women under 35 have a success rate of 40-50% per cycle, while it decreases for women over 40.
■ How many IVF cycles will I need?
The number of cycles varies by individual. Some achieve pregnancy in the first cycle, while others may require multiple attempts. The doctor will assess progress and recommend the best course of action.
■ Are there any risks associated with IVF?
IVF is generally safe, but risks include mild ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancies, and rare complications during egg retrieval. Your doctor will discuss potential risks based on your specific case.
■ How long does the IVF process take?
A single IVF cycle typically takes 4-6 weeks, including ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilisation, and embryo transfer. A pregnancy test is done about two weeks after the transfer.
■ Can I use frozen embryos in IVF?
Yes, frozen embryos from a previous IVF cycle can be thawed and transferred in a future cycle. This option provides flexibility and eliminates the need for ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval.
■ Will IVF increase my chances of having twins?
While IVF increases the likelihood of multiple pregnancies due to transferring more than one embryo, modern practices focus on single embryo transfer to reduce the risk and prioritise healthy singleton pregnancies.
■ How should I prepare for IVF?
Preparing for IVF involves lifestyle changes, such as eating a balanced diet, avoiding smoking and alcohol, reducing stress, and following your doctor’s advice on medications and treatment schedules.
